ALS General Information

AVIATION LANGUAGE SCHOOLS, INC. (ALS)
ALS provides professional English language instruction to meet the individual requirements of aviation personnel, whether current or prospective. The Aviation Language Schools program is designed to provide the participant (pilot, controller, dispatcher, maintenance personnel, flight attendant, or other) with the English language skills and the exam-taking and study skills necessary to pass Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oral, written, and flight tests.

COURSE OF STUDY
A placement test in oral and written English is given to each participant upon arrival. The results of this test, along with the individual's aviation experience, are evaluated by the Aviation Language Schools staff to determine the level of instruction required. This individualized test is used to measure a participant's progress in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Aviation Language Schools then provides group instruction and/or private instruction to accommodate participants with varying ability and background.

In addition, Aviation Language Schools provides practice in study skills and exam taking. The participant is given experience in taking written and oral tests similar to those tests required by the FAA. Instruction is given by instructors who have already passed these FAA tests and instructors familiar with FAA performance standards. The vocabulary of aeronautics is stressed throughout all English language training.

STAFF
The Aviation Language Schools staff provides a unique opportunity for accelerated learning of English necessary for aviation personnel. While all instruction is given in English and is geared to passing FAA exams, the Aviation Language Schools staff includes instructors proficient in many languages and instructors who have aeronautical experience (pilots, retired FAA controllers, dispatchers, etc., many with Military aviation experience). Thus the Aviation Language Schools staff can communicate first hand information on the demands of aeronautical situations to students from many countries.

To read, speak, and understand English, come to Aviation Language Schools where there is a curriculum designed by pilots for pilots.
